Teacher Appreciation Week - The Halfway Point

Isn't it always the case that when you're really excited about something, it seems to go by extremely quickly? I'm thrilled to report that we've made it halfway through Teacher Appreciation Week, though I really can't believe it's Wednesday already. I hope that the teachers are having as much fun with all of this as we are. I get so excited each day to find out whose name will be pulled in the raffle drawing. I love to see the smiles on the staff's faces as they peak into the teacher's room to see what we've left for them each day.

So, what you ask, have we been up to since Monday? Tuesday's teacher gift was a spin on an idea we found on Pinterest. The original tag was meant to be attached to a bag of popped popcorn, but both Stacy and I are a bit grossed out by giving away food that we had to touch first, so we attached them to bags of microwave popcorn.

I love how colorful they are. We used several different patterns of scrapbook paper and printed various tags for different staff positions within the school. We used a couple of buckets I already had and attached vinyl to them to mark them Teachers and Support Staff and put them on the table of the teachers room.

The raffle prize theme for Tuesday was Coffee Shop and we gave away a gift certificate to Northfield Coffee and Books, the local coffee shop across the street from the school, a coffee mug and a fun book called Weird Massachusetts. If you've never seen this series of books, you should definitely check them out. They are filled with really interesting facts and bizarre places that you'd never have thought to visit or known were there even though they might be a half hour from your house.

Today brought some more decorating, School Nurse's Day, a new raffle prize and another small gift for the staff. The gift was a water bottle with a single serving Crystal Light packet inside a homemade gift tag.

On Monday, we brought a large banner in for all of the students to sign. The substitute for the art teacher was very accommodating and helped us by having all of the kids sign when they came to art on Monday and Tuesday. We had brought it to the two preschool classrooms first thing in the morning because they don't go to the art room and we wanted to make sure they were included. We hung it on a wall in the teacher's room. Hopefully it will stay up and they will be able to enjoy it for a while.

I love how it turned out. It's definitely one of my favorite things that we've done this week.

The raffle theme for today was movie night. It included a cute popcorn container, some candy and a gift card  for the movies. We talked to yesterday's winner this morning and she was so excited! I hope today's winner is just as happy.

Several of the older students at school got together with their mom's and created a candy poem poster that we also hung up today. The teacher's absolutely loved it. Everyone who came in the room stopped to read it and comment about how great an idea they thought it was.

It's written in pencil so it's hard to read in a picture

Today is also National School Nurse Day. We presented our nurse, Kristen, with a beautiful plant that she can transfer to her garden and it will attract humming birds. I don't know if she knows it yet or not, but the art classes were also making cards for her the last two days. Thanks to CiCi for getting so much done!

We just finished putting together the support staff gifts for tomorrow. The teachers will get something different that we made last week. Now we get to focus on preparing for the teacher luncheon of Friday. So far so good. I'll do a final Teacher Appreciation post over the weekend. Remember to thank the teachers you know this week!
